It\u2019s that time of the year again when flowers bloom, and the koel\u2019s chants fill the air. More than just a festival, Awurudu is a season of togetherness and cherished memories. It brings communities together especially at the Awurudu Uthsawaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many Sri Lankans, Awurudu Uthsawaya holds some of the most joyful memories. In my family, there\u2019s a tradition of celebrating Awurudu Uthsawaya at my grandparents\u2019 house. Though I was too young to remember those early gatherings, I do recall a celebration in our neighborhood when I was nine. All the kids participated in games, laughing and playing together. Whether we won or lost, our elders still gave us gifts. And of course, school Awurudu celebrations hold a special place in my heart dressing in floral-patterned frocks and enjoying games with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Awurudu Uthsawaya, there are no barriers, everyone is welcome to take part in the traditional games and festivities. The season is also filled with the warmth of sharing, as neighbors and friends exchange sweetmeats made with love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, the Awurudu season is deeply rooted in Sri Lankan culture, fostering harmony and joy. It\u2019s a time to celebrate togetherness and spread love. So, as the season arrives, let\u2019s embrace its spirit and create beautiful memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
